***Here's an update on the book Soccerhead:   Selected one of the Top 10 sports books of 2006 by Booklist Magazine, the influential voice of the National Librarians Association,

Soccerhead was recently nominated for the National Soccer Hall of Fame "Colin Jose Award" -- given each year for the most significant journalistic contribution to the advancement of

U.S. Soccer. Set in College Park, Md., the book has been called a "classic for years to come" by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America; and "One hell of a good book" by the Chicago Weekly. Anson Dorrance, Head Coach of the University of North Carolina Women's Team, says it's "easily the most important book I've seen on the American game...funny, insightful, dead-on in its observations." And to think, it all started on Duvall Field.... Jim helped us raise over $700 for the soccer program from booksales.  Although our sale is over, I've asked Jim to bring some books Saturday to autograph and sell--cost now $25.

Coaches Responsibilities:

A number of games have been scheduled on neutral field. Coaches should communicate with each other about field set-ups (nets, restraining ropes, etc.)

Each coach is responsible for mailing or faxing his line-up sheet to the Boys/Girls Club office within two working days of the scheduled game. This is our only way of receiving scores, so please adhere to it promptly. . Call opposing team coach if games are cancelled due to severe weather conditions. Games must be cancelled on weekends with Greg Robertson: (301) 918-8108 by 7:30 AM on Saturdays and 11:00 AM on Sundays. Call the Sports Office weather number (301) 927-0822 for cancellation information.

Home team is responsible for emergency game plan (nearest telephone, hospital, etc.) All teams should carry
first-aid kits, water and ice.
